As a non-yoga experienced couple, we never thought we would be doing acroyoga or slack-line, which seemed far too exotic for the average person. Yet here we are, thanks to Matt and Erin's purposeful instruction, patience, and encouragement. Try it for yourself!
You Do Yoga in Anderson is truly focused on assisting your development to create your own unique yoga practice!
PRO TIP: If you want a life-changing experience, take their teacher training. It's modular, so the time commitment is flexible and the price is beyond fair (with multiple payment options). After working as a desk attendant here, I decided to go down the rabbit hole and take the 200-hour program simply for the learning experience. After completing the training, my newfound understanding of the physical, emotional, mental, philosophical, and yes, spiritual components of yoga has had a permanent impact on my entire wellbeing.
When a friend introduced me to the You Do Yoga family back in 2013, I knew soon enough I had found a new home. The instructors here teach from a functional perspective, focusing less on adjusting students to look like magazine models and more on helping them embrace their unique skeletal structures in order to achieve the anatomical benefit of each pose. Their motto has always been "feel better", not "look better", and for good reason. There are no mirrors and no judgments. These teachers are very knowledgable and really care about their students. You WILL leave here feeling better than when you arrived.
Oh yeah, and to my surprise, I ended up becoming a teacher here! :) Stop by my class, or any of the classes, and we'll show you what this studio is about.
Being a regular attendee, I absoultley feel a difference in my everyday life by practicing at You Do Yoga. I encourage anyone who interested to try a class and see for yourself. This studio has enriched my life greatly and I’m so thankful for it!
I was nervous about beginning yoga classes initially, but the instructors are contagiously reassuring that every person is different and physical abilities vary from person to person and your practice will reflect that – which is very empowering!
The smaller class sizes and unique class offerings make the studio very versatile for any level of experience. The instructors will often incorporate the needs of attendees into the class as well.
You do Yoga is a relaxed studio that makes anyone feel welcome. My boyfriend had never tried yoga of any kind and was terrified when we walked in for our first acroyoga workshop. He walked out saying it was challenging but fun, and that he was going to start doing some of the stretches that the instructors (Matt and Erin) showed him at home. Not only did his flexibility improve, but so did both of our balance and our teamwork. With a few workshops we went from struggling to do bird pose (think basic "airplane" from when you were a kid) to doing star pose (one partner's shoulders balancing on the other's feet while they are held upside down in the air). Despite being off the ground, class always felt safe because the studio makes it a priority (utilizing crash mats, spotters, etc.) Because of our great acroyoga experience, we recently decided to try a slack-line workshop with Matt and Erin. Although we aren't walking a tightrope quite yet, we made a lot of progress and really enjoyed ourselves.
I've been to many yoga studios and I have to say this one is my favorite! The staff is very experienced and helpful which makes for a fun and educational experience. Highly recommend you check them out!
I love this place!! I've been coming since the first day Matt opened the doors. The atmosphere is so celebratory of life, love and laughter. Classes are never stuffy or serious. The very thought of that notion makes me chuckle. As a fellow anatomy junkie, I appreciate their focus on modifying movements to suit each body's architecture. The class offerings and workshops are different than the typical yoga class, so that variety is refreshing. Oh and - you can even borrow a yoga mat for free! Get in there!!!
