I have been going to Spavia for several months. I am one of those people that has a membership. I love it! I have never felt pressure from any of their staff to buy anything! It saddens me to read such a negative review. Very much different than what I have experienced. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and courtesy from the owners and staff!

The front of the spa is very small and feels like if cluttered but the locker room is spaciaous and the relaxation area is nice. I'm pretty sure the owners are also the managers and only front desk employees but they're very nice. I've managed other spas so I really appreciate the customer service. After you check in, there is the usual intake form but you also get to pick the music for your room as well as the lotion scent. I think that's a nice touch, honestly. I went with the ocean sounds as well as the white Lilly fragrance both times. The fragrance isn't overdone or artificial smelling either. After your paperwork and customizations, you're taken to the locker room to put your things. There are robes and comfy sandles for you to wear before and after the treatments as well. The relaxation room has both hot tea and cold water. I don't think it's as nice as the relaxation rooms at Mitchell's but I do think it's an upgrade from Massage Envy, to give you a general idea.

Overall, the spa is nice and the people are friendly. I don't trust them at all with my skin but the massage therapists are great. I may consider returning but after seeing the results of my facial I think I'll skip the membership. I have a membership elsewhere that is going to expire and I'm on the hunt for a new place so that's mildly disappointing. If skincare is a big deal and you want to use a membership for facials, I would probably skip Spavia. But if you're looking more for a massage in a high quality spa, then this is the place for you.

Left on hold for 15 mins only to be told they had to call me back because they were busy checking in and out a guest and they never called me back for me to schedule an appointment. Prior to that, I called three different times and left on hold where no one ever answered the call. I just called again this morning, again left on hold no one ever came to the phone. I will stick to my normal spa locations in the city! Thanks but no thanks Spavia

Generally speaking, I think Spavia is great. I've been twice now and I've had two massages and a facial. The massage therapists have been awesome, but my facial was not good.

I've been a very happy member of Spavia Rookwood for going on almost 2 years. Julie and Tom are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. I have never once felt pressured to purchase anything. In fact Julie makes suggestions to help me get the biggest bang for my buck. If I skip a month, that month carries over and I don't have to feel bad paying for something I may have the chance of losing. I also love that Julie calls from time to time to say, "hey we have an opening, would you like to come in". I think they are down to earth and very responsible owners/managers. Now on to the massages....Amazing every single time. I enjoy coming in for a single massage or sometimes I group it and get a couples massage with my fiance. This place is worth every penny I pay monthly on the membership.

The main reason Spavia is losing a star is because of my facial. She skipped my extractions, which I really needed, and the products were incredibly harsh. There was zero customization to my facial, we didn't discuss my skin at all, she didn't talk to me about what she was using. It just seemed like a very stark difference from the attention to detail and care that went into preparation for a massage. I have absolutely no clue what was used on my face even though I asked. I do not have sensitive skin and I've had a ton of facials and a few peels and I've never had a bad reaction. I've never had a facial without any sort of consultation. At one point, I mentioned that my eye was burning and I thought product was in my eye. She brushed it off as the stream causing my eye area to sweat and dabbed the area with a dry towel. But sure enough, when I woke up the next morning I noticed a dry, irritated patch of skin on my eye. I have oily skin so a dry area means damage. Ugh! The only other complaint I had during the facial was that she would stop for an odd amount of time between each step. I can't tell if she was cleaning or distracted or my skin was visibly irritated but it was just odd. It seemed like a good 2 to 3 minutes between each step. But anyway, I thought all was well when I left but when I woke up the next morning, I could still see very clearly my pores were still clogged and my skin was irritated even though I followed the instructions she gave me after.

I had a great experience at the Spavia in Rookwood at the end of June. I got a 1 hour Swedish massage, which started a bit late, but no big deal. The sugar glow and scalp treatment from Victoria were amazing. I tried to get in a few weeks before I went with no luck, but appointments opened up a few days before.

My first massage was with Luther and he's awesome. His style is a little different but really great nonetheless. He used a combination of strokes and movements that were surprisingly effective for both relaxation and releasing the tension in my shoulders. My second massage was with Cyrni and she was also great. More traditional style but very versatile in pressure. I injured my knee and she was gentle and really accommodating about it without complaint or having to be reminded. Both therapists seemed to have a really good knowledge of the body and a full arsenal of techniques to release stress and tension. I'd return for another massage with either.
