This is one of my very favorite places to go in Cincinnati. I always bring my dog and visit the dog park and I almost always then go to the covered patio and sit in one of their Adirondack chairs. I buy a beverage at the counter and sit and read a book.
They often have bands scheduled to play or public events going on or different types of events that are all free.
Washington Park has great landscaping and parking below in historic Over the Rhine. There is a nice playground, enclosed dog park, water features, clean bathrooms, a lot of common space, and always something going on. Check out their schedule for events ranging from live blue grass to "drive in" movies to group exercise sessions and more. They do serve alcohol and there is a lovely covered space to consume your drinks, as well as chairs in the grass. Seriously, no matter your tastes, there is something to do.
Nice park that is in the middle of the city. It has seen a lot of things changed but recently revitalized and became a fun place to spend time with friends and family members. We have enjoyed many events here and within a couple blocks are many different ways to round out a visit to the city.
I usually use curbside parking since I often go on weekdays in the daytime but the park has a garage right underneath it that as I recall is $5.
We went to the park twice during the BLINK weekend, once at night and once during the day. It was very pleasant and invigorating. Very nice playground for the children. Drinks and tables for the adults. The renovated Music Hall and Memorial Hall are across the street. Parking is available under the park. We parked about four blocks away and it was a very pleasant walk through the neighborhood. You can also take the Connector.
My family loves coming here on the weekends. There's always something fun going on and parking is convenient in the garage below the park. Last weekend we brought our dog to the dog park for the first time. He had so much fun. The park isn't so big that you lose sight of your dog, but its absolutely big enough that he gets a good run. There were 20-30 dogs there and for some reason almost all of them kept chasing my dog. They gave him the workout of his life and he was laying on our couch the entire next day. The ground in the dog park is primarily a stippled concrete. It tore the outer layer of my dog's pads. My dog trainer said this was normal for the first time a dog has spent so much time running around on concrete and is nothing to worry about. It's a week later and his pads have mostly healed. A friend recommended Musher's Secret for the dog's pads in the future. It's a wax that helps protect the pads from rough surfaces as well as road salt and other stuff. I got some this week and used it on our 2nd visit to this dog park and his pads were just fine.
A local told me that at one poiny, this park was boarded up. I am grateful to whomever was responsible for cleaning it up. Washington Park is anchored by Music Hall and Memorial Hall on the Elm Street side. It is accessible by street car.
